The team headed off to Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland Championship show on Saturday 9 November.

Face topped the lot and from breed specialist judge Mrs Theresa Erskine he claimed an 8th CC and also best of breed.  Sadly for Face that was the end of the days competition for him as his breeder was the judge elect for Best In Show, and we were honoured to take a lap of honour before that judging started at the end of the day.

This super photo of Face was taken by Tereza Watkins - thank you!

The Scottish half of the team headed off to Waverley Gundog Association's open show on 3rd November - one of our favourtie open shows!

In the pointer ring, Face was awarded Best of Breed from a strong entry under breed specialist judge Mr Matthew Oddie.

Meanwhile the Gordon Setter judge, Fiona Thurm, found favour with James and awarded him best of breed.  James was expertly handled by Barbara Allison in the best in show ring.

Eva makes an appearance

We headed off to Midland Counties championship show at Stafford on October 27th, there Eva - Lourdace Field of Gold - strutted her stuff and won post graduate bitch.

We were totally delighted that the DCC and Best of Breed was awarded to Jess Horler with Lourdace Stable Lad at Rackens, who is a Lottie son.  This is his first CC and we are sure there will be plenty more winging their way to him soon.

Toggle Proves Her Talents

David C headed off to the GWP Club's Show Gundog Working Certificate day last week in Norfolk.  To our delight, Toggle (Hundwith Toggle JW) demonstrated great working ability and impressed the judges sufficiently to be awarded the Certificate.  This continues Hundwiths dedication to the dual purpose nature of weimaraners in that Toggle's mother, Meg, also gained this Working Certificate!  Very proud indeed.

Around the world...

Last weekend we bid a very sad bon voyage to young Volante (Hundwith Volante) who made her way to her new home .... in South Africa!

We will miss this special baby massively, but know she has gone to a wonderful home and will have lots of fun with her relation Lincoln (Rutilus Dear Mr President).

Below is a photo of Volante taken just before she left for the Southern hemisphere.  She is sired by our Rutilus Esuberante for Hundwith (Oliver) and out of Sh Ch Hunwith Dewpoint...we hope you like her as much as we do!

Well done Louis!

We would like to say a HUGE well done to Rachel Clarke and Louis ... who is now to be known as "Sh Ch Shonhund Showvannist with Errytar".  Rachel has worked very hard with Louis and we were delighted when he recently gained his third CC ... and even more pleased when his fourth CC followed very quickly afterwards.  Louis is sired by our late "Sh Ch Gunalt Inquisitor at Greyfurs JW ShCM" and is Merlin's second Sh Ch offspring.

Well done Louis and thank you for doing your dad proud!

Dreich Darlington

At a very cold and damp Darlington, Oliver continued his winning ways by once again heading up a good limit dog class.

James got a decent second in the stakes class, winning us some prize money to spend!

Oliver Wins Again!

At our local championship show, SKC held at Ingliston, it was Oliver's turn to be in the top awards again.  Under breed specialist judge Prof. David Brigden Oliver was awarded 1st in limit dog and then his second CC!  Going one better this time, Oliver was also awarded Best of Breed.

Oliver is pictured on the right on the photo above, having won the DCC.  On the left is the RDCC winner who is sired by our late Sh Ch Gunalt Inquisitor.

Beautiful Babies

Around 8 weeks ago, Sh Ch Hundwith Dewpoint produced a healthy litter of six strong happy babies who were sired by Oliver.  We have been absolutely thrilled with the development of this litter.  One star in the making - we think - is Hundwith Volante.  We are impressed with her body, depth and general correctness - and her outgoing happy temperament, too!

Here is a photo of Hundwith Volante which was taken when she was 8 weeks of age - we hope you are as impressed as we are!

In the Prizes at Harewood

David A headed off on the short trip from Otley to Harewood House on July 28th, the venue of Leeds City and District Canine Association's Championship Show.

Thankfully the weather stayed dry and even saw David changing out of wellington boots part way through the morning!

James - Lourdace Fulcrum JW - is growing up fast and clearly, in the opinion of breed judge Mrs Kath Cole, didn't look out of place in limit dog which he promplty won.

Oliver claimed the star of the day award by winning his limit class and claiming his first CC!  The judge for weimaraners was Mrs Jo Hesford of the Pipwell weimaraner kennel, who has owned and exhibited the breed successfully for many years.

Thanks to Sonya Perez-Powell for this lovely photo of Oliver winning his first CC!

A Day in the Borders

The David's headed off on their travels once again, this time off to the Scottish Borders for one of their favourite shows - Border Union Champ Show.

The weather wasn't the kindest and was rather too "Scottish", leaving them a bit wet on several occasions.  After a dismal morning however it did brighten up, just in time for Face (Sh Ch Afterglow Bare Face Lie at Kanix ShCM) to be awarded his SEVENTH CC from esteemed breed specialist Donna MacDougall (Adstock).  Later in the day Face was crowned Best of Breed over a great Sharnphilly bitch (Sharnphilly Auckland).  With the sun still shining David and Face headed off to the group and amidst strong competition were awarded a great group fourth under Pam Blay.

Winning at Birmingham

The Davids headed to "The National" Championship Show at Stafford on May 10th, taking with them Lourdace Fulcrum JW (James), Sh Ch Afterglow Bare Face Lie at Kanix ShCM (Face) and Hundwith Toggle JW (Toggle).

James won his class under breed specialist Margo Cowe of the renowned Rossend prefix.

Face strudded his stuff - as always - and won another RCC this time from Australian judge David Wong.

Toggle was the star of the show, however, as she pulled out all the stops and showed her socks off to win her second CC and best of breed.  The judge in this ring was Mrs Hilda Parkinson.

A Good May Weekend

Rutilus Gundogs were exhibited with success at both ends of the country over the weekend of May 4th/5th.  Up in Scotland, Fiona Swan piloted Lourdace Fulcrum JW to win yet another junior class under breed specialist Frances Boxhall (Laurelhach).

Further down the country in Nottinghamshire, David attended the Weimaraner Association championship show taking along Maizie (Sh Ch Gunalt Muse at Rutilus JW ShCM) and her son Oliver (Rutilus Esuberante for Hundwith).  Maizie was handled by our great friend Claire Richter who had travelled all the way from Australia on holiday with her mum Lois and friend Kylie.  Maizie did a great job of keeping Claire on her toes and the pair did very well to win a great second in Veteran bitch.

Oliver also had a good day, as we won limit dog.  A great class and despite his tender years Oliver has now won limit dog twice.

Our special thanks to Jenny for this great photo of Oliver.

David and Face had an amazing day at the Pointer Club at Newark on Saturday 20 April.

Under breed specialist Geraldine O'Driscoll (Fowington), Face was awarded his 6th CC, and in agreement with co-judge Lynne Hinton (Fleurfields) he was later announced Reserve Best In Show!!

Our huge thanks to Kristina who took this lovely vide of Face (Sh Ch Afterglow Bare Face Lie at Kanix ShCM) at Crufts 2013.  In a great class Face ended up with a VHC.

Oliver's Score Is In

Having had Oliver (Rutilus Esuberante for Hundwith) hip scored recently we were eagerly awaiting the results coming through.

To our delight they arrived from the Kennel Club/BVA yesterday and his hip score it total 5.  (Norberg Angle 0/0, Subluxation 1/1, Crania Acetabular Edge 1/2 - total 2/3).

Our thanks to Cameron and Greig, Milnathort for x-raying Oliver so professionally (and at a VERY reasonable rate!).

A good weekend

Fiona took James (Lourdace Fulcrum JW) to Rutherglen Open Show on February 9th where Colm Beattie from Ireland was officiating over the gundog group.  James was awarded Best of Breed and then Gundog Group three - what a great result.

The following day David A headed off to the Irish Setter Breed Specific Seminar at Lanark and later discovered he had passed both sections - more good news!

Teams Hundwith headed off to Manchester ... and in a great turn of events David A ended up handling Sh Ch Gunalt De-Ice at Stridview for Karen Whitehead, to win his 17th CC and Best of Breed.  Hundwith fared very well with Rosemary - Hundwith Vanilla Ice (AI) - winning puppy bitch, and Hundwith Toggle gaining second in limit.

Baby News

We are simply delighted with the news of the arrival/impending arrival of puppies sired by our dogs.

In Belgium, the Weimpoint litter of pointer puppies are growing on beautifully and we are so impresse with them.  They are sired by Sh Ch Afterglow Bare Face Lie at Kanix (Face).

Over in America we are eagerly awaiting more Face puppies coming, this time at the Seasyde kennel, who are due at the beginning of FEbruary.

Gordon Haran and Marion Waddell of the famous Magregor prefix used Oliver at stud a short while ago and we were delighted to hear from them that their bitch - Five (a Gunalt Inquisitordaughter) - has produced nine healthy babies.  Check out the puppy page if you might be interested in a puppy from this exciting litter.
