We have been busy busy busy at the new house - and have a number of new animal arrivals! 


First of all, the poultry collection has re-commenced and we have around 15 hens now as part of the ever-extending family. Having owned Marans and Welsummers before, we are trying a few new breeds too.  So far we have a small collection of Lohmann Brown (hybrid, very productive layers), Light Sussex, Pekins, Araucanas and ... two welsummers!

A Round Up

Apologies for the lack of updates recently everyone, we will try and get back on track soon!


2016 has been an exciting year for us and the dogs, no less because we have MOVED HOUSE! Moving South from Fife we are now based in South Lanarkshire, just outside Biggar, where the dogs now have around 11 acres of pasture and woodland to roam and explore at their pleasure.

Third Time Lucky

It was a case of third time lucky at Scottish Breeds Championship Show when James was awarded the DCC and BoB, yet again, for the THIRD consecutive year! The judge this time was Mrs Kath Cole (Balcroft) and James was also shortlisted in the BIS line up this time (he was RBIS in 2014, and BIS there in 2015).

At Crufts 2016, NEC Birmingham, not only did James - Sh Ch Lourdace Fulcrum JW - make breed history, but he made all of our dreams come true, too. 


James was awarded his 23rd CC from Crufts judge elect Mrs Sue Mitchell of the Brobruick Kennel. The Cream of the Crop

David was away judging in England, so it was the turn of Fiona to take on the handling of James at the Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland Top Dog Competiton.  Here, the top winning Gundogs in Scotland compete against each other having qualified for the event based on wins at shows in the previous year.  We were very pleased to qualify James to get him there!

James Tops The Show!

On the last day of February, we set off down to Lanark for South West Scotland Gundog's open show.  The breed judge was Claire Lewis, and we were utterly delighted that she found her best of breed Gordon Setter in James (Sh Ch Lourdace Fulcrum JW).  This show is very well run which meant only a short wait until Best In Show.  This time the just was Mr Ian Layfield.  From the 20 or so dogs present for best in show, James was declared Best In Show!!  Absolutely fantasti...

A great start to 2015's showing season.  We headed off to Waverley Gundog open show where Mrs Jennifer Macara, breed specialist from the Cromasaig kennel, was judging Gordon Setters.  To our delighted Lourdace Field of Gold won her class, and Sh Ch Lourdace Fulcrum won his class.  The two went head to head for best of breed and it was James was triumphed.  Later in the day, in Best in Show, James was awarded Reserve Best In Show under judge Mr Angus Macara, also of the Cro...

PUPPIES EXPECTED

We are delighted to announce the impending arrival of weimaraner puppies.  This final litter from Pink (Greyfurs Hot Pink) is sired by Sh Ch Hundwith Duty to Sireva JW.  The litter is a repeat mating of the highly successful first breeding which produced South African Champion Rutilus Dear Mr President and the UK show stars Rutilus Who Knew and Rutilus Last To Know.  As well as incredible good looks this litter all had the most fantastic temperaments and we have been delighted ...

TOP GORDON SETTER MALE - Sh Ch Lourdace Fulcrum JW

New title holders: Weimaraner Ch Hundwith Toggle, Weimaraner Sh Ch Rutilus Esuberante for Hundwith, Gordon Setter Sh Ch L. Fulcrum.

As well as the above, Sh Ch Hundwith Duty to Sireva JW and Hundwith Vanilla Ice (AI) also won CC's!

The Cream of the Crop

Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland hold an annual match where the cream of Scottish Gundogs compete for the coveted title of "top dog".  Oliver (Rutilus Esuberante for Hundwith) was invited to attend, having gained sufficient points through his show wins in 2013.

 

The judge on the day, Richard Morris, declared Oliver 4th best overall - a brilliant result in very good company.

Fiona Swan took James (Lourdace Fulcrum JW) to Waverley Gundog Association's open show as both David's were off down South judging (critiques to follow on the Judging and Training page).

 

Fiona did a great job with James and claimed Best of Breed followed later by Gundog Group third!  Thanks to judge Jean Byrne.

Claiming the Prizes at Caley

Caledonian Canine Society is one of Scotland's largest open shows.  David set off there with Face (Sh Ch Afterglow Bare Face Lie at Kanix ShCM).  What a great day they had winning Best of Breed and GUNDOG GROUP 1!  The brilliant judge was Mrs Hilary Male.

Toggle Crowned

David C's Toggle, Hundwith Toggle JW, gained her third and crowning CC at Manchester Championship Show under renowned judge Mr Andrew Brace.  As Toggle cleverly gained her SGWC back in 2012, she is a "full" champion!

Rosemary is growing up

Following on from a good day at GBAS with Face, David and David headed off to the Weimaraner Club of Scotland's championship show. Under first time judge Julie George-Ainscough, Rosemary - Hundwith Vanilla Ice (AI) - won post graduate bitch!
